Great Outdoors, owned by JB Hemmrich, began in 1997 as a lawncare management company servicing residential and commercial properties. In November 1999, we started servicing a 20 acre apartment complex in Bowling Green, KY. As part of the apartment contract, we were no longer just grass cutters, but landscapers. We designed, installed, and maintained all of the apartments’ landscape. As a result of adding all these new services, our equipment and knowledge of plants became more abundant and the business grew like a weed.

In July 2003, JB and his brother Chad Zastrow bought a run-down Garden Center in Hendersonville, TN. Over the next 5 ½ years, it was transformed into one of the top landscaping and water gardening destination points in middle TN. We dove into pond & waterfall construction, pergolas, outdoor kitchens, and paver patios, while operating the Great Outdoors Store. Our knowledge of plant life and hardscape products grew immensely. However, due to an increased demand for our on-site attention, we decided to sell the retail portion of our business at the end of 2008. Since then, we have been strictly a design/build and maintenance landscape company, serving home and business owners in Middle Tennessee. We have developed a reputation for reliable, timely and affordable landscaping.
